Hello, I am a Radiographer from Portugal and am trying to implant some Quality Procedures in my department, since it is an area that many people ignore here.

We are currently working with Agfa IP cassettes and I have read some articles that say there is a reference chart for LgM values in digital images. I have asked the national Agfa distributor for those references but they have no idea what Im talking about...

Can any of you tell me the LgM references for Agfa systems?

We have been using the Agfa CR system here. When it was first installed we were given the LgM numbers as a reference to the exposure. These are only suppose to be used as a guideline.

AGFA QC Exposure Factors

(LgM number) - Indication

(Less than 1.9) - Underexposed: repeat
(1.9 to 2.1) - Underexposed: QC review
(2.2) - Acceptable
(2.3 to 2.5) - Overexposed: QC review
(2.5 or greater) - Overexposed: repeat

If you have a DR system, I am not sure if the Exposure recommendations are the same.
This however, was what we were given.

Radiation-detection technology is an integral and critical part of medical science and healthcare, more so now than when the first medical x-ray was used to image a hand in 1895. Today, some 5 billion medical x-ray images are made each year worldwide, each one processed by a team of highly trained registered radiology technologists and registered radiologist assistants. At most medical facilities in the U.S., radiology technologists and radiologist assistants must pass their mandatory radiologic technology continuing education to be allowed to handle any of the radiation-detection technologies available today.
