No no, we're not going that route.

Let's try it this way.

You tell me what you DO know about kvP and beam penetrability - we'll go from there.

a mack truck is traveling down the highway at 60 mph (60kVp). there's a farm truck carying chickens that has stalled in the middle of crossing the highway. when the mack truck hits the chickens, that's penatrability. it's how hard it hits.

now imagine that the mack truck is going 120 mph (120kVp), and there are 2 chicken trucks. a lot more chickens will fly, and the mack truck will go through the chicken trucks with less resistance.

increase in kVp = increase in penatrability.

now to look at mAs

i like cereal....

say that mack truck going 60 mph is carying 100 gallons of milk. when he hits the chickens, let's say that he penetrates the chicken truck and travels 100 feet. if that same truck stops and picks up another 100 gallons of milk, for a total of 200 gallons of milk, he'll travel 200 feet after hitting the chicken truck.

he's got the same "penatrability" as with the truck with 100 gallons of milk, but it takes longer for him to stop with 200 gallons. the more weight the truck has, the stronger the hit it will make.

increase in mAs = increase in dose, not penatrability.

mA = weight of the truck (gallons of milk)
s = distance traveled after hitting chicken truck

the overall goal in radiology is to have a well ballanced breakfast, with scrambled eggs and milk, and not a big mess to clean up afterwards.

For your love through sleet and snow, I'm truckin'

Ain't nothin' holdin' me back nothin'
I'll keep right on, right on truckin'"

had to.....
