Hi Marc

I emailed a friend of mine who's now the program director of the comm. college I went to (PGCC class of '79). Here's what she tells me about the Maryland Comm. College system -

"We do not use a "waiting list". We do have more applicants than available seats. Students must reapply each year. The biggest issue is residency. In the community college system, out of state residents are typically given last priority over in state residents. I believe you have to be at an address for at least 6 months to qualify as a resident. A 4-year institution may be another option. I also heard a rumor that Montgomery College has waived priority for in-state residents. I don't know if that's true."

For Connecticut information, I'm about to trade email with the program director of one of the local universities, which has a 4-year radiography degree program. I'll post here when I hear from him.

Hey Marc - here's some better news for you - I heard from Bill Hennessey at Quinnipiac University (an accredited program) here in the New Haven, CT area. (Sorry it isn't closer, but I've never been out west, don't know anyone out there). Bill says -

"Our program does not have a 4 year waiting list. Admission to QU is only based on past grades, GPA’ s; SAT’s, etc.

If this person is interested, he should contact our admissions department (203-582-6212) as a transfer student, or call me for some more background at 203-582-5214.

Thanks you for your great work! I am on to several leads right now, and am slowly but surly forming a (better) plan. So far, I’ve found 2 schools in which I may start within about the next 12 months. Both of these schools are actually in AZ.

1. Pima Medical Institute is predicting I may start in Jan of ’08. I will know for sure by July.
2. Arizona Western College (Brand New Program) Aug of ’07. I will know for sure by Feb.

These schools are GPA based. I’m pretty confident I can make it, but we will see.

Plan B. I’ve received about 20 emails back from all around the country in which they also abide by a GPA based admission; they are worth checking into if needed.

Things are looking good. Your help is very appreciated, thank you!

I have the info you have provided, and will be keeping that as back up.

May suggest something?

Lets get a permanent thread started providing students with this kind of information, and base it on schools within each State. Each person may contribute, and lets try to get this organized to help out future RT's.

The school I'm attending has an average of a 2 year wait...I only waited one year but they are now running a Fall start class and a Spring start class.

Funny you mentioned Pima, one of our instructors just moved here to teach from that school.

Good Luck...jobs around here are hard to come by now that WTCC is putting out 2 class per year...but I'm not complaining...I'm just glad I got in when I did. Wink

I left Maryland in 1974 after trying out MD University in College Park for
nursing. In 1972, the instructors informed me of a 2-3 yr wait to finish
school at John Hopkins.

When I moved to SC, I went to York Tec and grad. 1979. Now I am in WNC
looking for mobile x-ray work. I finally found my niche' and I am almost
ready for retirement. OMG. Laughing
