Hi guys,

Around 8 years ago I went to a hospital after having a biking accident and they said I required a scan on my brain.

What was weird though, was that it was a device that was 'dome like' and it fit over my head. I was sitting in a vertical, upright position and the dome went over my head. Shortly later there was an x-ray like image that came out of the machine. It looked somewhat detailed and resembled a high quality x-ray. The "Dome" wasn't very bulky, and it didn't take very long for the image to be produced. Some of the hospital staff were surprised that I was required to use this device as I don't think they had seen it before or it wasn't used very often at all.

I need to find out quite urgently what type of machine this was.

Could someone please enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

Never heard of such a thing (and you can take that for what it's worth)

Where did you have this done? It would be worthwhile to contact the facility to find out.

I'll be interested to hear what you find.

i personally try to be up on the new stuff coming out in the market these days, and i also can't picture anything that would scan your brain like this.

the only thing i can think of that you're describing would be called a Panorex or Panoramic film of your jaw. if you had a particular facial injury, particularly to the mandible area, they'd order one of these, and they really aren't done that often. however i really can't think of anything like this that would scan your brain.

as always, i'm going to agree with hj on this one. contact the hospital or facility that performed this imaging to you, and ask them for your records on that day, and make sure you get the radiologist report.
