It's 2 am here, and I have been looking for Imaging jobs for hours. I have been doing this routinely for months. I have to say, there is not much out there! They are always looking for nurses, PT, OT etc.

I am a RT , not currently working, and my hubby is an BSRT-with experience in x-ray, CT, MRI, PACS, Marketing, and Management.

Right now he is an operations manager for 2 outpatient imaging centers, and takes care of all IT and PACS issues.

This has to be the hardest job to find. I would like to help him with some cold cover letters and resumes. I need some help on how to do the “cold” cover letter and resume. His target job would be PACS, or operations mgt, or both.

Papa, cold cover letters are for those resumes sent without a specific job posting - simply sending out the resume to places where one would like to work.

And while I applaud your dedication, Mickey, what I can tell you after 30 years as an RT and the last 10 in IT (PACS/RIS/SR Dictation/Cardiology .. you get the idea) is this

In the multiple institutions where I've worked (all east coast, Canadian border to FL) when resumes are received without there being a specific job posted, they are not saved or even reviewed. (When my current boss receives resumes, he sends them unread to HR. If HR can't match them to a job posting, they're discarded).

In a market where almost every posting has multiple qualified applicants, there's no reason for HR to take up space with resumes they didn't ask for. (Sounds sort-of like junk mail for HR Depts, doesn't it?)

Perhaps an alternative is to contact a healthcare IT recruiter. Remember, headhunters aren't paid by the applicant, they're paid by the institution so it won't cost you. Try Intellect Resources, you can find them here - http://www.intellectresources.com/jobs_search.html. They specialize in healthcare IT (PACS). They're always looking for candidates with experience.

Good luck

I'm curious as well. I'm actually wondering if my military background might be preventing me from finding work. I was trained through the Army and had no issues finding work before my deployment to Iraq, but since my return I've basically been unemployed for the last 4 years. I recently moved to Florida in hopes that the market would be booming down here, and unfortunately I can't even get a PRN job. What gives?
