so employers don't even look at grades or scores? I want to get into the medical field and I was thinking radiography was the best way to go at my community college. they are accepting 20 a year into the program, and i wouldn't even be able to start before 2010 because they are filled up. you need to get a job and get some experience before going back to school for radiation therapy don't you? If there is a good chance I won't even be able to find a job after school I guess I need to keep looking for something else to go into. |

I'm originally from Indiana and the market there is hideous. The occasional opening is typically fought over by at least 20 techs, and a young single Tech is in trouble if they are new to the area or recently leaving the military. I worked at a grocery store for over a year while trying to find work all through the state.
I recently took a risk in hopes of finding jobs in Florida (it had always been a hotspot in the past decade) and have walked into a market that is nearly just as bad. The Tampa area HAS a few positions, unfortunately they don't seem to want anyone that doesn't already have a job. I'm not sure what it is about my resume that turns them all off but I've been shot down for every position that opens and the HR won't even return my calls.
Not trying to steal the thread, but if anyone could offer advice or would be kind enough to review my resume and point out what I'm doing wrong shoot me a PM |

The ecomony has been pretty good in Seattle area compared to the rest of country but even here, jobs are tightening up. I used to work a lot of registry now everyone is going perm placement for the security. So did I. Still it's a good place because it's a union town which mean I took a near 30% wage hike from my old job in Floriduhh. If you don't mind 6 months of continuous rain, Seattle's not a bad place. |

Im a registered R.T. and recently graduated in August 2008. I have been searching for a job everyday without any luck. I live in North Louisiana and the job market for rad techs is terrible. Im working full-time in a convenience store until I find an open tech position which is not looking too good. Serval years ago the area hospitals were begging for rad techs and now they are flooded with applications from new graduates. Now I'm even willing to do x-rays for minimum wage. Sad. |

I moved to Pa. in the NEPA area in July and I have not been able to find a job. I lived in NYC and had no problem with work there. Even when I quit a job there was another not too far behind. This is really depressing. I am at my wits end deciding what to do. I am thinking about taking a course in Medical billing. Any suggestions??? |

Looks like its not easy getting a job. I was considering going to school for this but I'm glad I came across this forum, I need to rethink some things now.
There's two community colleges with a radiography program around here... I bet they're churning out a lot of graduates.. doesn't sound like a good idea. |

I am as well, job market stinks for techs and especially new grads. There is absolutely no way I'm retraining for a third. |
