I am an ARRT(RT) with a BS in Diagnostic Imaging from an English University.

I have been offered a position in California but an not 100% sure as to whether I can work in teh state with my existing qualifications?

Do I have to go back to school again or are my ARRT quals transferable?

Also what's with the Fluoro license?

I've looked on the CA website but it's about as clear as mud.

Any advice would be great.

www.arrt.org

and you can also contact the State of California. You defintely need the permission of the State.. ARRT will tell you if you are qualified to be an RT... IT would depend on wihch school you atteneded I believe.. as to if they accept reciprocity.. it's been a while since i checked.

Good Luck

Yeah, finding info on any state site is challenging, to say the least.

If you're already ARRT(R) as I think you said in your post, then the only thing you need to worry about are the CA state requirements.

The link for CDPH 8200 Radiologic Technology Certificate Application (Diagnostic & Therpeutic)
http://www.cdph.ca.gov/pubsforms/forms/CtrldForms/cdph8200.pdf

Instructions say in part: If you are nationally certified by ARRT, you must return this application along with the following:
• A copy of the ARRT certificate for Radiography or Radiation Therapy.
• The non-refundable application fee of $75.00 in the form of a check (e.g., personal, cashier’s, or certified check) or money order made payable to CDPH-RHB.

Application for a fluorscopy permit (CDPH 8218) Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy Permit Application (Fluoro is NOT covered under the standard RT permit) is here: http://www.cdph.ca.gov/pubsforms/forms/CtrldForms/cdph8218.pdf

Good luck
hjh, RT
