|
I was just wondering if anyone's employer has done anything drastic, due to the economy, such as Technologists being laid off, Tech hours cut, Techs being required to change shifts, Techs required to work in other modalities (ie. MRI/CT Techs doing x-rays) or ?????
Just wanted to get a general feel about what is going on throughout the country. Hospitals vs. outpatient centers?

Here just outside of St. Louis, everything you have mentioned is happening in the hospital system that I work for. It is what it is, everyone is feeling the pinch here in St. Louis. ABusch lay-offs, drug companies, factories, etc. We can only hope that the economy will make the turn, sooner than later.
Hospitals are really starting to micromanage the numbers. i.e. Exams/ hrs. worked. I find it difficult to understand this management style. In C.T. they have a goal as for how many C.T.'s to perform in a shift. How can radiographers alter their performance to increase the number of imaging studies that are prescribed? ****jumps off soapbox*****
This too shall pass...

I was working in an out-patient MRI facility that "guaranteed" hours 36 a week. Well, that was all good until the economy went you know where. I was never informed until I got my paycheck, so don't have much respect for the person that I was working for. Not a great communicator. Needless to say, I start a new job the end of March. Yes it is very skinny here in Washington for jobs now. But as he said, "This too shall pass" (I hope) |
