Is there a ranking of all the schools in the country or all the schools in a state ? I am applying to several schools in CT and each one I visit tells me they are one of the best schools in the state and country. One told me they are rated within the top ten of the country. I would love to find an unbiased ranking of all the schools. I am trying to compare the following programs in CT: Naugatuck Valley, Gateway, Capitol, Middlesex, and Hartford Hospital. If you have information regarding any of these programs I would like your opinion.

Thanks for any guidance, Bob Grossman

I don't think such a thing exists ... a "ranking"? Based on what?

The only thing that's of real importance to anyone is ... are you applying to a program that has a good national certification pass rate? And you can easily get that info yourself. Ask the Program Director pointed questions abuot their national exam pass rate.

Because once you pass the exam (providing that you do so), no one cares what your scores were or what program you attended.

Are you nationally certified? And do you have a state license if needed? And you can obtain the state item once you've earned the national one.

I disagree, in Minnesota some employers give preference to graduates from different programs. Some will out right reject an application from certain schools, depends on the hiring manager. Shouldnt be this way but it is.

Even within organizations there are like program 'cliques'. I worked with a temp recently who'd been at one of our Level one trauma centers. This hospital has a school whom most of its staff comes from. If you didnt go to THAT school you're treated different by staff and coworkers. Couldnt believe my ears. This tech also works casual for Fairview, a very large clinic/hospital group in Minnesota. Couldnt believe my ears but same thing exists there. Least that is his experience.
