Ultrasound Tech for Prenatal..where do I start?

HELP! There is so much information on how to start out there that I'm not sure where to start. I am a high school graduate, but I have been a stay at home mom for a while. I am ready to follow my dream to become an Ultrasound Technician for Prenatal care. I can't afford to remain not working too much longer ( due to the economy )... but I can stretch some time to go to school for a while. Which schools are the best in Houston, Texas? Are there programs shorter than 2 years? Is there another route to get into this field and be trained while working?
