I am applying to take classes at a hopital in my home town. I have to research and find out what a typical day of a radiologic technologist consists of. Could some one give me their opinion of what this? Thanks a lot!

i WOULD SUGGEST SHADOWING AN XRAY TECH IN A LOCAL HOSPITAL. i DO NOT THINK THAT MANAGEMENT WOULD MIND AT ALL. yOU CAN GET A REAL GOOD IDEA OF WHAT HAPPENS IN YOUR AREA.

i HAVE WORKED MANY PLACES OVER THE YEARS, IN DIFFERENT MODALITIES, AND IT DIFFERS DEPENDING ON THE JOB ASSIGNED TO YOU THAT DAY OR WEEK. iT COULD BE FLUORO, O.R., OR E.R ROTATION. OR JUST DIAGNOSTIC ON OUTPATIENTS.

remember that what you do as a radiographer every day will be different depending on what type of work the radiographer does - Hospital or doctor's office? Day shift/evening shift/night shift? Operating room full time, or CT? Pick any of those - call the local hospital and ask.

I can tell you right now how my day goes.

X-ray.
X-ray.
X-ray.
Sit and wait a while.
X-ray.
X-ray.
Lunch.
Sit and wait a couple more hours.
X-ray.
X-ray.
Go home.

Repeat ad nauseum.

Some days will be busier than others, last week I did 20 exams one day before lunch. At my clinic, though, after about 1:30, it tends to slow WAAAAY down.
