Ok so I have researched a little more and found out I will not be able to get a aas degree in diagnostic medical sonography online? Is this correct?
Basically I know I will have to do some class work but is there anything I can do online? I have no college exp, I grad in 2000 and at 26 need a career. I have a 1 year old and work full time so online seemed fitting but after reading over all these post's it seems thats impossible...so anyone out there know where in Texas I can do online course work and be accredited? I have gone over EVERY site there is online and nothing helps.
I understand clinicals have to be done in house but what can I do about basics? Do I need to get pre recs out of the way online? Or do I just jump into learning sonography? I value the little time I have with my daughter and really need somthing that can be done at night when she is asleep...any help for a girl in TX pulling her hair out? _________________ K Mclemore |

www.arrt.org
as far as the radiology program, contact the arrt for their list of accredited programs. i doubt that the programs online are accredited.
now, as for the other classes, (i.e. english, math, etc.) those should be ok to do online, as long as they will transfer to your degree. check with the local community colleges to see if they have a radiology program. if they do, contact the program director to see if this is possible. that person would have a list of all the required courses you'll need.
basically, the radiology classes are supposed to be in class, but everything else should be ok online (as long as you check with the program director) _________________

To Kmclemore
If you 're looking for a profession in healthcare which will allow you to do everything online, the answer is an emphatic NO.
You cannot learn to care for patients, lift patients, talk to patients, evaluate your own performance online or reading a book. You must DO the thing under the supervision of someone who has already trained to do it.
If you've done all your training to be a 1)brain surgeon 2)car mechanic 3)chef totally from a book or online without ever practicing? No thanks, I don't want you to operate on me, fix my car or my food.
I understand your dilemma .. but I think you're unrealistic. You cannot become an accredited anything by doing all of your learning online. Online is a supplement, not a replacement.
You can knock out your prereqs (determined by the program) online. But once the imaging program begins? F2F only.
Good luck to you, I hope you find a way to a career choice that works for you.
