Job Description:
Demonstrates compassion, respect and caring while working within the scope of Sonographer, providing excellence in Imaging for safe, accurate, efficient and personal service to our patients, families and caregivers at all times. Works collaboratively with all other healthcare team members toward the best outcomes for the patient and the organization. Then Sonographer uses independent judgment applying clinical knowledge, acoustic imaging technology, problem solving skills to optimize exams, tailoring and expanding the exam to ensure comprehensiveness and diagnostic accuracy. Sonographers perform abdominal, OB/GYN, a variety of small part exams as well as assisting and guiding physicians in invasive and OR procedures. The Sonographer is responsible for preliminary assessments, summarizing diagnostic data and communicating this information with diagnostic images, orally and in written form to the interpreting physician. The Sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge in the field of general ultrasound and new procedures as they evolve. Coordinates work schedule with Team Lead, other sonographers and front desk to assure workload coverage. Maintains a daily log of patients seen and completes exam billing forms. Cleans ultrasound equipment, informs Team Lead about equipment problems, stocks supplies and keeps work area clean and orderly. Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospital, physician, referral or commercial agencies. Must participate in on-call rotation.

Required Specifications:

Education: Graduation from 2-4 year C.A.H.E.A. accredited ultrasound program, B.S. degree in ultrasound technology preferred.

License/Certification: Registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in multiple specialties and must maintain active national registry status through accumulation of required CME on a "rolling triennium" basis. Current CPR certification required.

Experience and/or Training: PACS/RIS knowledge required. ImageCast/LastWord/ CareCast experience preferred. Prefer at least one year previous diagnostic ultrasound experience (not including intern experience) in a hospital facility.

Special Skill/Demands: Basic computer and keyboarding skills required. Must be able to perform work during periods of crisis and emergency situations. Must be available to participate in "after hours" call program. Must be able to lift or move moderate to heavy loads. Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.

These positions will cover the evening and night hours (12 hour shifts). Two positions (0.7 FTE) are rotating week days (e.g. one week working Monday and Tuesday, the next week working Wednesday through Friday); one position is working weekend nights (Saturday and Sunday) and is a 0.6 FTE position.

These positions will also provide limited vascular exams coverage (e.g. lower extremity, etc.) during the evenings and nights. For more complex vascular exams, there is an on call vascular sonographer.
