|
Well, I am 32 years old and I am just about done raising 3 infants. I graduated from Purdue University in 1997 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering...but in 2002 I was laid off after my first child and I haven't worked since. Now my youngest will be 3 years old in 2008 and I wanted/needed to work.
I have ALWAYS regretted not going into medicine...and realized that a Health Technician is the way to start anew...I think. I have narrowed it down to Ultrasound Technician...but I am having a hard time finding school curriculums.
Do I need to go back to a University and major in Radiology, do I sign up for the Sanford-Brown courses (the only thing that keeps popping up when I search for schoold in Cleveland, Ohio)?
I really do need some help. Even though I know what I want to do, I can't seem to find the information on HOW to do it.
Any guidance is greatly apprecated.

Sonographers require credentials .. and there are at least two agencies which oversee the credentialing of sonographers.
One is the ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Although sonography uses sound waves rather than radiation, ultrasound imaging is historically linked to radiographic imaging. Look here www.arrt.org for a link to accredited ultrasound programs listed by state (use the left link Education/Primary certification).
Additionally providing certification is the ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Look here www.ardms.org/aboutardms/contactus.htm
I did not find a searchable list on their site, but there is a 'contact us' link to email the ARDMS.
Good luck to you
