I JUST DID A PE STUDY ON A PT WHO IS 24 WEEKS PREGNANT. I SHIELDED THE ABDOMEN. IVE HEARD MIXED REVIEWS ON WHETHER TO SHIELD OR NOT. IVE HEARD THAT THE SHIELD CAN TRAP IN THE LOWER LEVEL SCATTER X RAYS. ON "CT IS US" WEBSITE IT SAYS IT DOESNT MATTER, IT IS THE SAME DOSE EITHER WAY. JUST WONDERING WHAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES. BILL

i do it for the patient's piece of mind. now granted, i don't sheild any other patient. all the radiation is either in the gantry, or the scatter is coming from the patient. i forget what the figures are, but it's something like if scatter bounces more that like 2 times, it's almost nil.
