I am an RT of 20 years and I recently went to work for a Spine center. One of my jobs here is scanning MRI films into the PACS. I have patients who bring in there images C T L spines, which we know are alot of films and I have to decide what order they should go in. Ive looked on the images and cant figure out how you tell the order they were taken. Can someone give me some guidance? Obviously I know what basicly Im looking at but I just cant seem to figure them out the order of each set

There are a couple of ways to do this. Firstly, there should be a scout/pilot view that should at least show where the first slice is. That would be the easiest way. Otherwise, check the images. There should be a tiny R or L with a number next to it such as R20 then the next image will be slightly different. If it is a 5 mm slice with a 0 gap and they are going Right to left the next image will say R15, then R10...etc.

Hope that helps
