I am moving to Tampa; Florida from New Jersey and would like to get my certification in MRI. Have been a technologist for 11 years. Does anyone know how I can go about this? Are there any hospitals willing to cross train there? I work at a level II trauma hospital currently. Thanks for your anticipated responses. Cool

Many hospitals cross-train RT into MRI. However, preference for cross-training is always (at least in my experience) given to current Technologists with no MR experience rather than RT's from the outside also with no MR experience.

I could find no MR programs listed in FL on the ARRT website as being accredited. Doesn't mean there isn't something out there.

There's an RT program at Hillsborough Comm College (813-253-7371) in Tampa. Program Director's name is Beth Wyckoff. You might contact them and see what they can tell you.

Good luck. Plenty to do in southwest Florida. Fall/Winter/Spring are beautiful, summer hot. I miss it ... but I do NOT miss hurricanes!
