|
im in school now for x ray and i wanna be a ct tech. so i obviously i finish this first. and ive heard to do ct you can either cross train or go back to school and learn. ive also heard its better to go back to school for the obvious reasons. so my questions: where can i find a school for this? i checked the arrt website for accredited programs but they seem to have none for ct....so any help with that would be GREAT. how long are ct programs? and has anyone gone to a ct program? if so, how was it? any info would be great. thanks!! |

i went back to school for ct, and regret none of it
personally, there's so much to learn about CT, that unless you've got a book and an instructor guiding you about everything regarding ct, the ct registry will most likely be difficult. ARRT i believe will start requireing CT techs to be ct registered by 2010 (not sure, but somewhere around there).
as far as the schools, check with the local community colleges in your area, and check with your current instructors. unless i'm mistaken, ARRT doesn't really regulate the CT classes as much as the Radiology program. i know when i did my classes, i only got a certificate saying that i completed the classes. ARRT may just consider those classes CEU credits.
all this being said, you may also want to look into the CT CrossTrainer offered by MIC. people in both the places i work currently have purchaced this book/class and are very happy with it. i've also heard many good things online about this course. the few pages i've checked out personally lead me to believe that this is a very good, very detailed learning tool. downside is that it runs around $250 to $300. however, it seems that you definately get your money's worth _________________

whoops i just saw this post.....its been awhile but lets see i finished school got my degree and passed the registry. and actually i found a different school that started like a week after i took the registry that teachs ct, mri, etc so i started their mri program the last week of october and should be done around the end of march and then i will probably start the ct program after that. so things went well so far, i was originally going to start a ct program sometime around the begining of january aka now, but instead started an mri program a few months before so instead of starting ct im about half way done with mri and i wanted to both anyway so everything worked out good for me. |
