Hi! I have been looking online at different forums and have discovered that the two schools I am considering for Ultrasound training have been discussed to quite a negative degree. I was wondering if anyone could tell me their opinions on the two schools, such as which one they would attend before the other. The two schools are Keiser College in Daytona Beach and Sanford Brown Institute in Houston. The locations do not matter to me. I could live in either city. The expense is not a concern, either. Any input would be really helpful. Thanks!

Hi agf Smile I'm also currently considering Sanford Brown Institute's program (in the Atlanta area) but to be honest I'm quite leary about going there mainly because of the cost ($34,600) and also, despite recently obtaining their CAAHEP accreditation, I'm not sure if their program is one that is reputable or respected amongst the sonography field. I'm wondering if their education program is a good one?!?!?

Apparently there are only two CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs in the Atlanta metro area and I'm not eligible for the program at Grady Memorial Hospital (which is much cheaper and it seems to be much more professional and just better overall) b/c my Bachelor's degree is not in a biological science (it's in a social science) so that only leaves me with Sanford Brown as my only other local option or I could go through a Radiology Tech program at a local college and then go from that field into sonography?!?!?!

Like you, I just need some advice (preferrably from someone already in the ultrasound field) because I don't want to waste my time much less a WHOLE LOT of money going to a shady school!!!!

Have you decided what you are going to do yet?!?!?

Hi, I heard that Keiser College in Daytona beach lost their accredidation. But I am not very sure please check CHAPPE website. If you go to central Florida area for ultrasound school, I would recommand Florida Hospital College. It is affliated with Hospital, so clinical rotation will not be a problem and you will have a good chance to be hired by the hospital after you graduate.
