PostPosted: Fri Mar 20, 2009 11:15 pm    Post subject: Resume Help: Include Specialty Rotations on clinical exper? Reply with quote

I currently have a restricted license and looking to graduate and sit for the registry in May. So I'm trying to get a feel for the job market and get my resume in order. My program includes special modality rotations (2wks each). Some of these actually allowed a good amount of hands on experience while others were more observe/assist. Is it worth putting on the resume?

You can include rotations as educational experience.

You cannot include under work experience, you were not working, you were a student.

Yes, I agree they were not work experience which is why I was considering putting them with clinical experience if at all. Granted they did not include the level of independence and intensity of the rest of my clinical experience. Perhaps that brings into question whether employers view clinical experience as work or education?

No, as I said. Employers do NOT view educational experience as work experience. It isn't. It's part of your education.

I think I see the breakdown in communication. I understood clinical experience to mean clinicals during your program vs. a paid employer. Should I clarify as Clinical Rotations? Student Clinical experience?

Nope. Put it under the educational heading, and it'll be obvious to them that it's student exposure.

I wouldn't mention the ones that you felt you didn't get much out of, but the ones that interested you or that you felt allowed you to participate .. by all means.

Good luck

actually, do you mean after school hours were over? Like did you work and get paid for it as a student tech? You can count that if you did.
