|
First of all, I apologize if this is a repeat thread. I looked around and couldnt find anything.
I am currently stationed in the Chicago area, active duty Navy, and I am looking to seperate and pursue a career in X-Ray. I am new to terms and I apologize if the term X-Ray offends someone.
I am basically trying to determine my best route for continuing on to a Bachelors. i have the option of attending a community college with an AA in Medical Imaging and would most likely be able to finish by the time I seperated from the Navy.
What are the major differences between the two, and is Medical Imaging considered as lucrative as the Rad Tech, or should I pursue the Rad Tech initially. Sorry for the long post, and Thank You in advance. |

You're making this too hard.
If you're looking to pursue an assocate degree in "medical imaging", what you're talking about is Radiologic Technology. In the old days (1970's), we were called, 'xray techs'. These days, the common term (and the one I like best - it's descriptive) is 'Radiographer'.
By all means, pursue the 2-year degree. A Radiologic Technologist (Radiographer, Medical Imager) is a hard worker, a skilled professional. Been one for a while now, and I've had the time of my life. Done a lot fun things, worked with some terrific people is quite a few states.
Good luck to you |
