Hey guys
I am ARRT in radiography. Everybody at work around me keep talking how valuable for me to go to ultrasound school and get that too.
So ultrasound techs, do you think it will be valuable for the market? Would you go to X-ray school?
I am enrolled at MRI and CT schools too. But i have not start yet. |

Sonographers are NOT "ultrasound techs"... unless you are talking about this:

I only recommend educational sonography programs that are accredited by www.CAAHEP.org and the www.ARDMS.org credentials.
Good luck with your studies. Terry DuBose, RDMS _________________ Peace, DuBose |

Hi, WearyAtlas!
Have you thought about a "distance learning" program?
Look at www.academyofultrasound.com
I do know that this is a great program, even though it is fairly new.
good Luck. _________________ Jennifer Sheldon/Director of Admission

By all means, look at the academy Jennifer mentions ... but don't forget to ask them if their program is accredited by either
www.CAAHEP.org or www.ARDMS.org

If you feel that the institution that you work at would give you additional benefits for being registered in both, then by all means go for it. However, in my experience, you usually only do one or the other. It is very rare to have a place that the technologists rotate through different modalities unless you are in a rural area. Good luck with whatever you choose! |

For me, I will be certified in both. Not because I want to, but because I have to be an RT (or RN) before I can even apply for sonography. I have also noticed that there seems to be a lot more sonography job openings than RTs. This of course will switch by the time I finish my training, but then again I'll be trained in both areas so I should be good. |
