Just wondering what kind of activities does your employer provide for you during Rad Tech Week? |

I know this is a fairly unpopular opinion, but here goes. I have never believed that Radiologic Technology week should be about celebrating ourselves. Sure it's nice to get free pizza, little gifts, and maybe some ice cream. I've even heard grand stories of big screen tv's being purchased by sales reps wooing their radiology customers.
I think Radiologic Technology week is our opportunity to educate the community and the employees inside the hospital about Imaging. How many times do you hear, "What's the difference between xray and CT?" Or, "How much radiation am I getting?" In MRI, I'm constantly surprised at how ignorant our own hospital employees are about the safety requirements, considering all of the attention MRI Safety has received in the past 6 years.
While free food and free gifts are a great, I think we need to sieze the opportunity to educate and answer some of the questions we are asked year-round by putting up displays, having open houses, doing tours of the department, and many other creative means. _________________ Chris |

Chris....excellent answer.
I am in WA too and some of the hospitals here are putting an end to the vendor sponsored free for all of gifts. They are limiting any outside donations to organizations that can provide CEU credits.
Anyway....I thought your response was awesome. _________________ www.radtechtalk.com |
