|
hi everyone im new to the forums, and im going to start persuing a career in radiology. I need to do all my pre-reqs first before i can even get into the accredited program here at mesa college in san diego ( i hope its not to impacted, ill find tomorrow when i call). I have a question regarding rules of ethics by arrt.
Not to get to personal but i have been arrested on 2 different ocassions one in 02', and one in 04'. Both were felony charges but i got a deferment program for both cases, and later both cases were dismissed. One was a drug related charge. So "technically" i dont have a record per say but i know i would to tell them this when applying.
Do i even need to worry about this ?? should i call them ?? I wont be appling for at least 2 maybe 3 years after i complete my pre-reqs and 2 year promgram (assuming its not impacted). I moved with my life and i want have a good career in radiology, but if cant get reconized by arrt then then is there really a piont of me going after this ?? I know its alot of stuff for my first post, but ANY info will help me, thank you

From arrt.org
Question: I was convicted of a misdemeanor. Why do I have to report this conviction to the ARRT?
Answer: ARRT requires that all misdemeanor and felony convictions be reported — including charges resulting in pleas of guilty, pleas of nolo contendere (no contest), withheld adjudications, suspended sentences, or military court-martial. The courts have many innovative ways of dealing with convictions. For example, a technologist was accused of sexually assaulting a young intoxicated patient. Because the patient was not fully aware of what happened and did not want to testify, the courts accepted a plea bargain down to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. It was the opinion of the Ethics
So you can see that the cirucmstances surrounding your offense will be important.
I can tell you from personal experience - it is frequently our failure to report infractions that warrants the stiffer penalty. If we self-report and get it over with, our status as an RT may not be affected.
I would contact the ARRT by phone ... ask them directly.
Good luck.

at least git-r-done now, and not find out until you graduate and sit for the boards.
it sounds like you're tring to turn your life around in some way. that's good... get those forms out, signed, notarized, blood seal, first born, whatever. i've met dozons of people in this field "with a past" and they are fantastic technologists. there are few people i would let perform studies on myself or my family, and i'd trust some of these people to do it right.
