Hey to everyone! I will be applying to the Rad. program at Cape Fear CC next Spring (to start in the Fall). However, I want to also take the 12-hour Phlebotomy program too in the Spring in case I don't make it into Rad. program in a reasonable time frame. I feel that this will also be something useful that I can fall back on in case of a long wait. Does anyone out there agree? Do any of you know if there's much of a market out there for such? Just let me know.....Thanks! _________________ "I'm somewhere in between what is real and just a dream" - Lifehouse

Sure, phlebotomy will be a useful skill in obtaining employment, but it's not an equal replacement for Radiography. You would earn a lot less.
I'd take it anyways b/c phlebotomy skills are useful if you go into CT or MRI. _________________ Mike Faulkner R.T.(R)(CT)(MR)

I would say definitely take phlebotomy. Lot less money but a good skill to have. I took it before going into the program at CFCC cause I'd run out of pre-reqs and didn't want to run out of steam. I have used it quite frequently since. It isn't an easy skill to acquire; it's kind of like a zen thing... You can always fall back on it if you have to. Taking is a lot different than giving, though.....ie; starting IV's for contrast CTs or IVPs.
