Hi!
I just moved to Colorado from Iowa. RT requirements are pretty stringent in Iowa, and I didn't keep up with my RT CEUs while I was going to Radiation Therapy school at the University of Iowa. I did not finish school, (it was my own fault, I didn't study enough and was going to fail) so I moved back home. By the time I did move back, my license was not current. I have only had 3 mo experience working before I went off to school. That was in 2005. It is now 2008. If I took my boards here in CO (there are no continuing education requirements in this state) would I be able to find a job? Would a hospital even hire me with a gap like that? I've been working customer service jobs since then. I guess if I passed my boards it would show that I know what I'm doing, but I'm worried that even if I took it and passed no one would hire me. Any advice from someone in the same boat? |

well, it's not necessarily the state that requires the CE's, it's arrt. i know in virginia, the state license doesn't require CE's. however, to work in any radiological facility, you have to be certifyied by arrt, which requires the CE's.
most places that i know of dont really look into the details of the CE's; all they really care is that you're registered with the arrt, and that you are in good standing with them as far as CE's. if you pass your boards, that should bring you into good standing. _________________
