|
Hi there,
I am researching multicultural issues in relation to radiology procedures. I'd love some stories, perspectives, opinions from people in the field regarding their experiences doing medical imaging on patients of other cultures. I am especially interested in any particular beliefs certain cultures have regarding having x-ray pictures taken of them, or issues of difficulty between male techs/women patients and vice versa (specifically relating to religion or culture), or anything else you may want to share.
Thank you!!!!

I'd be interested in your results. Can you post them on here? |

Believe it or not, I haven't gotten much feedback to my question (see existing posts), so I don't really have much in the way of results. My paper is probably going to discuss differing cultural norms (example - latin american cultures appreciate eye contact and reassuring touches, many asian cultures do not like direct eye contact, some vietnamese believe that x-rays kill red blood cells and weaken the body) and how as radiographers we need to be cognizant of these differences if not the actual beliefs when we treat patients.
I'll be happy to post a short list of these cultural beliefs/norms as I collect them if you'd like. It sure is interesting, though of course they are generalizations that don't apply to everyone. _________________ Bound to cover just a little more ground |
