|
I will be starting Rad. program in May.I have taken advice given on this site and studying all I can beforehand to get a headstart.I have been studying extensively and have all the bones, skull "landmarks", etc. down. to give me a headstart on anatomy. I have begun going through the Radiologic Science For Technologist book by Bushong (although, this may not be the specific book required for my program) I wanted to try and get a start
on the radiologic physics. I have a 4.0 for all my prerequisites, but have never taken physics(program didnt require it as a prerequisite)I am so scared and at the moment overwhelmed, trying to learn the physics from this book. Most of my prerequisite courses I took were online, and I have always had the discipline, self motivation to learn on my own.I am extremely driven, self motivated and will give everything I have, but the physics and this book are causing me to question if I have the intelligence required. Completing the program means everything to me, I will "fight" with all I have, failure is not an option.
Is the difficulty I am having with learning the physics on my own evidence I dont have the intelligence or foundation required, or is the physics something that sometimes requires a teachers assistance in learning? |

Take a deep breath. One of the reasons that not all learing takes place in a vacuum is that no amount of drive can compensate for difficult material to which you've never been exposed.
Use Bushong to become as familiar as you can with the terminology. You'll have an easier time when you do get to class and will be better able to focus on the concepts if the words aren't also foreign.
I understand driven - that describes me also. But you can't do this all on your own, so relax a bit. The fact that you're not conquering physics all by yourself means nothing, except that you're not conquering physics all by yourself.
Good luck

Thank you "hjh,"
I truly appreciate your words and advice.
I have read many of your replies to others as well; you are such an inspiration and your responses are always so beneficial.
I printed out your reply to keep close by when I get overwhelmed and apprehensive
or insecure about my ability.
I guess, I just have to remind myself that when I start the program, there will be help available when I need it.
Thank you again! |

NOW you're talking. You should write that on your bathroom mirror. If you live your life (not just your educational goals) as if that were true - it will be.
Good luck, I look forward to you joing us in a few years.
