I went to the local hospital yesterday to observe in the imaging department. It was an amazing experience. The technology was fascinating and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the professional and caring interaction displayed by the technologists toward the patients.
It was a little slow which was fortunate for me as I was worried I'd just be in everyone's way or that no one would really have time to talk to me. The staff was extremely helpful and happily explained everything they were doing, both with the patients and the imaging equipment. I was met by the instructor of the local school program who thoroughly explained all the goings on and procedures of the department to me without me even asking him to. I also met some current and former students and was able to ask them about their experiences with the school. I would definitely like to go back and do it again.
I would really like to send a thank you note to the department for all their kindness and willingness to give of their time. I only hope that it would not be perceived as an effort to gain favor. This experience only solidified my desire to be a part of this profession.
On behalf of others, I just want to thank those of you who lend your time and experience to those who go to observe in your departments.
