I am currently an Registered Rad Tech and am looking to persue the MRI path. However I live in a very remote area where resources to make this happen are limited. I was wondereing if anyone know anything about the online advanced medical imaging program offered at the university of missouri school of health professions. From what I understand this school offers cert program for ct/mri and once completed one is eligible to take the advanced level exam in mri offered by arrt. Does anyone have any insight that could help me. I am a FT working mother of 2 and online distance learning is the perfect tool for me. Just not sure this program is accredited or meets the requirements for ARRT cert Thanks

From the ARRT website -
First-time candidates for a post-primary certification must meet clinical experience requirements before applying for certification. Candidates must complete and document specific procedures before signing the certification application.
I'm sure an online program will be helpful for learning MR .. but you cannot gain experience in preparation for the ARRT certification exam withough actually DOING MR. As an current professional imager, this should not surprise you.
Currently, the ARRT does not require a specific educational program for secondary certification in MR. Their requirements for hands-on scanning are intense, however with the applicant having to scan a minimum of 120 procedures in a variety of categories. Here is a link to the PDF listing of MR requirements - http://arrtpdf1.s3.amazonaws.com/education/MR_CX_2003.pdf
