We use a GE Lightspeed 16 slice scanner and when performing reformats, you can change the direction and either have them right to left or left to right. Is there any way to show the slice position icon along with the MPR's. We did a runoff and the radiologists were not sure which direction they were going. Is there any standard? Coronals are easier to differentiate their direction but are there any standards out there for directions of reformats? Thank you for any information that you might have.

are you using auto apps for the sagitals?

i know if you do your sagitals manually in the reformat program, if you look on the "scout" image that is in with the sagitals/coronals/whatever they are numbered (1 at the first, and ? at the last).

if you're using the auto apps, the only way to be 100% sure which way they're going is to look at the protocol in the reformat window.
-pull up the thin section images
-click on batch film
-click on "protocols"
-select the protocol that was used in auto apps
-click on open

this will open the protocol that the system used during auto apps. i know the box in here is numbered, and as long as nobody goes in and changes the protocol, that's how the system will do it every time.

if you need any more help, let me know. i like ge's. ok, so i need a life. sue me. Embarassed

There is a way to put the scout image on the image along with the image. Of course I can't remember how.. but ask your apps people or call GE Cares.. because they really do (snicker)
