some veteran techs I know have an R and L on either end of a bit of ribbon. That way you see them easily (red is a good colour!), tie it to your lanyard, and you can still tape them to the buckey like normal markers for vertical work. Maybe not the best infection control option, but if you're in an outpatient facility it might work
