I graduated from school in May, took the registry in June and got my permanent license the beginning of July.
Today I received something in the mail stating that I need to renew my license?? Why do I have to do that, since I just got it? |

By 'permanent' license, are you talking about your national certification through the ARRT, or are you talking about a state license?
No matter, nothing is permanent. You pay an annual fee to your state to stay licensed, and you pay an annual fee with the ARRT to register (maintain) your certification.
If you have questions, contact either
the ARRT www.arrt.org if you're talking about your national certification or
your state licensing bureau if you're talking about your state license.

It's the ARRT that is requiring me to renew. I just got it in July!
When I said "permanent" I meant that it wasn't a temporary license. It just seems silly to me to have to renew after 3 months. |

Remember, ARRT certification/registration is not a license, temporary or permanent.
You earned your certification by completing educational requirements, complying with ethical standards and passing the national exam. 'Registration' is the annual procedure required to maintain registration of that certification.
From the ARRT website "ARRT mails more than 20,000 Application for Renewal of Registration forms each month during the first week of the month prior to each registrantīs birth month" -
http://arrt.org/index.html?content=registration/renewal.htm
Trust me, you don't pay the annual fee? You don't stay registered with ARRT which means your certification is no longer valid.
Blame your mom?
