I was curious to know that Level I Radiographers get about 13 dollars an hour which was a surprise but then I learned there are different levels of Radiography. How long does it take to become a Level II Radiographer from a level I? And, do you become a level I Tech after you've graduated from an Associates in Science program? Thanks |

Thanks | You can't say that Level I Radiographers earn $13/hour. You can say that Level I Radiographers earn $13/hr in whatever city/region you checked. Pay grades vary wildly from state to state and region to region.
Level I is not a nationally recognized anything. It is a term that many (but not all) areas/facilities use to designate many things. In some hospitals, a Level I Radiographer is simply a one with less than 5 years experience. In others, Level I designates Radiographers with only RT(R), Level II's have RT(R) + registered CT, or MRI, or Quality Management ...
Also, for hiring purposes, there is little/no difference between staff technologists who graduated from an approved hospital-based program with no degree, and those who graduated from an approved college-based program with a 2- or 4-year degree. 4-year degrees make a significant difference when moving into management, education or IT ... otherwise, not so much. |
