kaplan school in LA

Hi..I am new here and I would like to pursue my career in rad tech. I was able to read previous posts that the school should be accredited by AART. I am just confused on the Joint Review Commitee (JRCERT). The school should be also certified by this commitee to?

Kaplan in North Hollywood is AART accredited but not by JRCERT. Will that cause a problem when I am going to apply for a license eventually?

Do you know any accredited schools with 1 year program?

I would really appreciate any reply.

The ARRT does not accredit programs.

It accepts accreditation by the following 4 agencies in the US
-Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
-Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT)
-Committee on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in collaboration with the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS)
-Regional Institutional Accrediting Agencies (degree-granting divisions)

As the national agency charged with the certification of imaging professionals, the only list you need to worry about is the list of accredited programs on the ARRT website.

There are no accredited 1-year programs for radiologic technology. Educational requirements are becoming more intense, rather than less. January 1, 2015, candidates for the national certification exam will be required to have earned (at the least) an associate degree in their field to be eligible to take the exam.
