I have an assignment and I can't find some answers.

1) is KUB kidneys, urinary and bladder?

2)and is PA- hand down?
and is AP- hand up?

3) and then it says " What is a topographical landmark and which one is used for a KUB and Chest radiographs?"

if you can't find the answers to these easy questions I think you're going to be here a lot.

I'll give you a hint on the hand thing because that can be a bit confusing.

Think anatomical position.

2) Posterior Anterior (PA) and Anterior Posterior (AP) refers to the path that the beam takes through the anatomy. PA/AP doesn't have anything to do with the hands.

I'm going to take a wild guess and here and assume that the answers to these questions are in your textbook. Wink

These questions are not in my book. Don't you think it would be stupid of me to go online and ask these questions when I can just read it in my textbook? I've waited 2 years on a waiting list, I sacrificed 2 years of waiting just to get into this program, don't you think I want this more than anything?

Me asking all these questions and not opening the textbook is not a good idea if I want to pass the ARRT.

The first 2 questions I did research and I was asking if it was right or not. The 3rd one he said in class but I missed it.

PA-From the back region/side of whatever you are xraying.
AP-From the front.

Its a little weirder on things like the hand, you just have to learn it. Like if you are pointing the xray tube at the palm of the hand then it would be an AP projection (since the anatomical postion, the hands are positioned out). If the xray tube is pointing at the back of your hand then it is a PA projection.

I guess I'm a bit confused then. Do you have a positioning textbook? That should show you the landmarks for positioning, anatomy, what each view shows or doesn't show, etc. Also, in the abdomen chapter I would think that it would say what KUB stands for.

It looks like you've already received answers to your AP/PA questions.

Anyway, good luck with the program.

No I DO NOT have a positining textbook. This is only an intro class and we are only covering very broad subjects. I haven't gotten to the positining semesters yet.
