Jobs in the field

Hello. I am condidering a career in radiology, a radiological technician to be precise. I came upon some forums about how there are no jobs, and I wanted to make sure, hoping that it's not true. This is something I really want to do, but I don't want to waste my time on another degree that doesn't open any doors. I recently earned a BA degree and I've been looking for the past two years to find out that my degree was worthless. I would really appreciate any input about the job market relating to this career.

If there aren't any jobs, is it just because of the recession?
