When doing C-spine work; if you leave your tube at 72" when going from lateral to AP instead of moving in to 40", what effect does that have on the image? What effect does it have on the patient? _________________ The right angle to approach a difficult problem is the "try-angle" |

Yes it will magnify the image and increase pt dose, but I think it is minimal. I have worked with a tech that prefers to do them at 72"  |

It would be a substantial increase in mA, I can't do the direct square rule in my head but it would come out to more than double. Doesn't it go "double the distance and 4 times tha mAs? I would prefer to do them all at 40" vs. 72" if I had to do one or the other. If it were me standing in front of the buckey or on the table all would be done at 40".  _________________ The right angle to approach a difficult problem is the "try-angle" |
