I am 48 years old, with a military background in Law Enforcement. I've gotten a number of years experience as a patient, one Stemi, one Nstemi, and 3 stents, 2 LAD and 1 RCA. I've been a single parent for 24 years, and now that my son is grown and on his own, I want to start a new career in radiography. I have a dear friend that is a radiographist (?) and he is 58. He currently does Mobile X-rays for a firm, and loves his work. My career path would be X-ray to MRI, CT and hopefully doing Cardiac Cath lab work...it's something that I feel passionate about. I tend to dive in and research as much as I can prior to a heart cath, and on the last one, myself and doctor disagreed on the stent size to use for my Mid LAD. He got frustrated in a very funny way and said..."Sedate him, please". Before I was sedated, he leaned down and said...."you were right, by the way."
My question is this....Am I too old for this?
And the second question is...will my history of heart attacks rule me out? |

NEVER!!!! i'm a firm believer in you are never too old to start radiology!!
and i don't think there would be any limitations to the cardiac issues, either.
good luck!!
