my question is do you think i have a good chance?
you only need a 2.5 to get in.
is it all about the grades i mean is my gpa that bad that they wouldnt even consider me? |

think of it as a whole entity...
the interview, the grades, prior classes... everything adds up. what exactly they're looking for? no idea. i'm not an instructor, and i haven't interviewed anybody for a program. however, if you show interest in the field, show that you're looking for a carreer, not just to take up space, and you keep your head in the books, you should be just fine.
and again, if you don't get in this year, there's always next year. get as many accessory classes out of the way, so once you get in, you don't have to worry about anything but radiology.

I am new to this websit but so far, I love it!!
Korn858 & bobby2112: So how did the interviews go?
I am somewhat in the same situation. I applied to an RT program; 145 applicants and only 28 are accepted. It has been narrowed down to the top 50 which I have made but that means I still have to beat out 22 other students; that's a lot!!! I won't find out until the end of May.
Anyway, hope things are falling into place for you.
Good luck.

Like hjh said, if you don't make it, stick it out. Perserverance will pay off. Last year I totally blew my interviews, I was totally prepared for the questions they asked me. Also, I had no experience in healthcare.
I debated switching to a program that was "easier to get into" (i.e. Respiratoy therapy, all you needed was good scores on the English portion of the COMPASS).
But I decided that Radiology was it for me. I improved my interviewing, I got a job at not 1 but 2 hospitals, and this year, I accepted! So stick it out...you will be glad that you did... |

good luck, you never know I have been fretting the last 3 years over my a it was a 2.5 but with thehelp of a great A&P teacher and receiveing "A"s in both 1&2, is what helped me. I finally applied to our local Rad Tech program it is very competitive here and they have avery strict selection process going by a point system, and gpa and other combinations. I got a "C" in math so I knew my chances were slim.
I have my program interview next week only 70 get interviews and 36 picked. You never know how many actually apply and what the other applicants can bring to the table, you have to think about you.
I did make sure I finished all of my basics/pre-req's this helps get those other classes out of the way. Once in the program it is a full time job , you can barely work but you have to in order to survive. At least you have some background in the field that should help some. _________________ amanda m |
