hi
i have a work injury and have an xray of the injury. my employer's insurer have demanded that i [either]
1. fax the xray to their office
or
2. scan and email the xray to their office
questions:
will faxing an xray itself damage it?
if so is it possible to [clearly] photocopy an xray and if so
will the photocopier lights damage the xray?
regards

How silly is that.. They actually asked you to fax the original x-ray? They are just trying to get out of paying.. If they want the x-ray they can go through your doctor's office and get it.. If you are on the ropes you can take the film to a hospital with a scanner and get it digitized. I'm not sure what they would charge but good luck.

My guess is that the insurance company needs to get a faxed copy of the REPORT, not the image itself.
No. It is not possible to fax an "xray". It is not possible to (without specialized equipment) copy an "xray" or scan an "xray". It IS possible ... even USUAL to fax or scan copies of reports from diagnostic imaging studies to send to other physicians or to insurance companies.
