7 months ago I had to have an x-ray test done for my chest wich was twice, one - in October 2007 and the other one in November 2007. Now I have to go for an x-rays test again which will be the third time within 8 months. I know that it's harmful for your health and do you think I should go for it or not. It's for a visa renewal and I explained to the doctors that it will be my third time within such a short period of time and they say it;s the requirement for the visa medicals and unless you produce the film of the previous test you can't avoid the test now. Please give me some info on how dengerous it is if I go for the test again. Thank you

You may find the information here http://www.radiologyinfo.org/en/safety/index.cfm?pg=sfty_xray&bhcp=1#4 helpful.

There is additional information here:

the danger is in not going for a test that you need. Why worry about the cancer 20 years from now.. (if at all) and not deal with the issues you have now?.

You are right to question but you need to ask your doctor for the benefits vs risk of getting a chest x-ray now.

if all you have to do is produce the last one, then why dont you contact the facility you had your last one taken and request a copy, not so hard really. its really not necessary for another x-ray unless you are having some new problems. if nothing has changed, make a request for a copy of the most recent x-ray you had.
