Hi! Our hospital might be installing an OPEN HIGH FIELD MRI unit. I have no experience in open MRI, nor do I know which vendor has the best imaging capabilities, combined with ease of use for Technologists. Also, does anyone know what vendor has the best high field open unit that has very little down time?? THANK YOU for you input!!

Usually Hitachi is the vendor of choice for a open MRI. I think their Oasis scanner is a 1.2 tesla. They are extremely easy to learn. My list of favorite scanners are 1. Seimens 2. G.E. 3. Philips 4. Hitachi and least is Toshiba. It's a great time to buy a scanner. Lots of competition. Ask about the coils that are included, whether diffusion weighted images and ADC mapping is included. Also, most vendors make their money more off of the service contract so be sure to get those quotes too, if you are in on the decision making process. If you have other modalities, it is easier to cross-train on the same make. If you are buying more than one modality, the sales people will give you a discount also. _________________ Jen |
