|
My son is in Germany and is a Rad Tech in the US Army. He is a very smart kid but has had trouble passing the boards. May I please ask what happens if you fail the Rad Tech boards three times? Do you take a refresher course? Do you take the whole course over? Anyone know where refresher courses are taught and how to make contact (if they are given).
I am a RN and I know that some of the folks I went to nursing school with failed several times and they had to take a week course then retake the boards. I am hoping that is what your boards allow.
Any information you could give would be greatly appreciated. If you would rather reply to my email it is akrhodes@verizon.net
Again, thanks in advance for your help. |

From the ARRT website:
Question: What are my options if I fail my third attempt?
Answer: For primary exams, you may establish eligibility to retake the examination one additional time if you submit a remediation application, which requires completion of remedial studies. Options for remediation are noted in the Certification Handbook and in the ARRT Rules and Regulations. (Link here: http://arrt.org/about/rulesandregs.pdf)
According to the regs, a candidate who has failed three times may make take the exam a 4th time within one year of the 3rd attempt if they provide evidence of acceptable remediation.
If he does not take the exam within one year, he'd have to start over by attending an accredited Radiography program.
I hope he finds a career path that allows him to succeed.
