Not sure if you still need info, but here goes. I am about to graduate from u/s school in which I learned all modalities b/c it is a b.s. degree program. If you choose echo, that is all you will be doing, unless you get somewhere that will train you. In general, you will see OBGYN, abdomen, small parts (thyroid, testicles, etc). To do neuro, you would need to get into a vascular program. If you are worried about too much OBGYN with general, you could work in a hospital. I take call and we rarely see OBGYN except through the ER. But the day person, rarely ever does any. With transvaginal ultrasounds, you are not touching the vagina. First, you make sure to wear gloves. But you are just inserting the probe, so you shouldn't be touching the area. Then there is a super easy glove removal technique to ensure you get nothing on your hands when removing the probe cover and your gloves. In my job search I have found that they are more general jobs willing to train in echo than the other way around. However, echo jobs are in higher demand. Hope this helps!
