help with skyline knee!!!!

i am in need of help, while my collegue was taking a skyline knee the cassette fell forward onto the patients leg , now the patient is making a formalcomplaint against her, now my manager wants proof that a skyline kee can be done with patient AP and knee flexed with patient holding cassette(our hospital does not have cassette holders and our patients are99% geriatrics so unable to lie prone)
is there anyone out there who also does knees in this method?

Try using a wedge sponge and a pillow to hold up the cassette... if that doesnt work use a xray tech's best friend.... TAPE!!!

Well, if the tape doesn't work, use sandbags, they work great for cross-table laterals and skyline projections of the knee!

I'm an Australian radiography intern and we do skylines (on patients who are able to) like this all the time.

We get the patient sitting up, holding an 18x24 cassette behind whichever knee we're investigating. The knee is bent at about 45 degrees. The direction of the tube is facing the patient & perpendicular to the cassette, ( therefore parallel to your floating table top). You then adjust your tube so that it points 15-20 degrees towards the patient's head which will give you a beautiful skyline.

Tell your boss to open up a Merrill's and see other ways it can be done.
We've done them AP since Willy met Bertha!!! LOLOL The pt is 99% willing to hold the cassette and if need be, one of us suits up and holds. You don't need to bend the knee much...if they can't, then just increase your tube angle. Use geometry! Biggest problem you may have wil be to get their foot/toes out of the way....they have to flex and point the toes down.

Now, if you want to talk about the notch view.......

I think prone is easier, providing the patient is a walkie-talkie.

Of course, if you really need a skyline shot of the knee, you're almost definitely going to have to do it supine.
