I am a 2002 graduate from an accrediated 2 year radiology program and took the registry in 2002. Our school has a 100% pass rate on the registry with it's current instructor since I believe 1983. Our primary study guides were the correctec which is a great reference several of my questions on the registry were in the correctec book! Also we used Bontrager for positioning this book also has good anatomy references in it. We constantly did Mock Registries. These were 200 question test like the registry but much harder! If you made like a 75 on the mock registry you were guaranteed to ace the real deal! I believe these mock registries were like the NorthWestern's or something like that. We used Selmens for Radiology physics. This are some of the tools that I feel really helped me. The correctec is a great reference!!! Good Luck to all of you I could never imagine having to take that test again!

I called ARRT today 4-7-2006 and was told I had until the end of June 2006 to send in my application to take the exam to be reinstated. There is a five year window or something like that and if I dont send in my application by June 2006 I would have to go back to school. I have started working (not in x-ray) and have not studied much at all but I am going to send in my application because I am pretty sure I will fail the first time but I will have 2 more attempts in 3 years IF I send in my application by June. Maybe I will have a chance on my 2nd or 3rd attempt. I borrowed all the books, test, notes from a student who just graduated x-ray school and right now they are sitting in a box in my room. I think I have 10 books and lots of mock registry tests to study. Good luck to everyone having to retake this exam. I am still flunking the practice tests on the GE healthcare website and I am talking about the same test I took on their website last month so you know my memory is not that good. This really sucks..........

Be sure to get the application in on time but you should be able to choose a test date that is later than June. Find out if there's a deadline to actually take the exam and if not, set your date for a later time to give yourself a chance to study more.

Well, I will NOT take the reinstatement exam. I am working so much I have not studied enough and plus everything I have read it is so different from 1977 when I took the exam and passed. (its a shame you cant take the exam with info from when you first took it). I dont think I could come even close to passing the exam even if I took it 3 times, so sadly I want be working in x-ray and the best opportunity just came open for a new office looking for a x-ray tech (and I know the doctor well and I feel like I could have gotten the job, I was asked). The exam is TOOOOOOO hard for me. I am 48 years old and for some reason after not working in the field for so many years I really wanted to get back in x-ray, but I have to work now and I am still not passing the practice tests. I wonder if I studied 8 hours a day for 2 months if I could even pass the exam. I doubt it. So for all you x-ray techs out there even if you are not working in the field keep up your CE because one day you might want to work in the field again. I am going to give back the crate of books and practice exams someone who recently graduated let me borrow because I will NOT be taking the exam. My 5 year deadline ends next month (June 06) and after that it will be too late. I wish you could just pay a hefty fine and do all the backup CE and I would definitely do this. Sad about this decision..... Sad
