I too am in the same position of having to take the exam after 20 years. I read a post somewhere from a guy who had to take after being out of the field for about that long and he said bought mosbys comprehensive review, studied it for about 3 months and passed with 89. I purchased this book and although I didn't pass I will say it was very accurate, it comes with a practice test on cd rom which I scored a 57 on and that is exactly what I scored on the registry. I didn't study nearly because basically this just lists the facts and its really hard to memorize all those fact. I also called the arrt initially and asked them what they recommend, I got the same answer "we cannot endorse", however on my 6th or 7th call to them I did get rep. who recommended the kettering seminar. I ordered the home study but ended up taking the seminar shortly after and I would highly recommend it. I'm taking the test for the second time in week, so I'll let you know how it goes. |

I ordered the book radiography Secrets and it arrived last week. I have read over some of the material in it and I have been studying this week. Boy, I didnt know I remembered so little. Since I have not worked in x-ray since 1982 I have forgotten a lot. I was told by arrt that I had until june 2006 and someone told me as long as I take the exam once before june 2006 I would have 3 years to take it twice more. Is this true or do I have to take it 3 times BEFORE June 2006 (that is when my 5 year mark is over)? I am still not passing the practice exams. I started off making 37 now I am up in the 50's. I am going to keep studying but I keep questioning myself so if by a miracle I would every pass would I know how to use the machine. I would need to find old hospital or doctors office that had the machines I know. I think I would be like a student having to learn so much. If I dont chicken out I am going to take the exam before June but if I have to pass all 3 tries by June I better hurry up. So if you know about this let me know. Good Luck, CHICAGO!! And if you pass and want to sale your kettering seminar info let me know. |

I too am studying to retake the exam after 28 years out of school. I was an idiot to go into retirement because the CEU's were a hassle to get while working in Electrophysiology. I have to get reinstated to work in Arizona in a cath lab. If anyone has any good tips for study sites or review books, CD's. I would be very grateful. How long does it take to get test results after the test?????????????????? |

I am a 2002 graduate from an accrediated 2 year radiology program and took the registry in 2002. Our school has a 100% pass rate on the registry with it's current instructor since I believe 1983. Our primary study guides were the correctec which is a great reference several of my questions on the registry were in the correctec book! Also we used Bontrager for positioning this book also has good anatomy references in it. We constantly did Mock Registries. These were 200 question test like the registry but much harder! If you made like a 75 on the mock registry you were guaranteed to ace the real deal! I believe these mock registries were like the NorthWestern's or something like that. We used Selmens for Radiology physics. This are some of the tools that I feel really helped me. The correctec is a great reference!!! Good Luck to all of you I could never imagine having to take that test again! |
