Help on a Radiography math problem

Ok here is the problem:

Bob is taking a chest Xray on Malone, whose width is 20 inches. How wide will the Image be?

Object Width= 20''
Image Width=?
SID=72''
SOD=70''

The Image width is 20.6'', but I need clarification on how you would get 70'' on the SOD. My professor subtracted 72'' from 2'', but why? I don't understand this part.

well I figured that out, so can you help me out on a new one? I would like to know how you do the Density Mass Formula. Can you explain that to me step by step?
