I am having a tough time finding a job. Unfortunately, I went to a school that was not accredited, however I do have my B.S. degree and can take my registry. The problem is that I am not finding a job....they either want new grads that are registered or that you have working experience. I have been out of my externship for 2 months and I am getting nervous! Does anyone have any leads for the greater Los Angeles area?? Thank you for any help you can provide. |

Actually, this is not correct. Having a degree of any kind is irrelevant. If the program you completed was not accredited, then you are not eligible to sit for the certification exam. Please check the ARRT website (www.arrt.org) or call them - (651) 687-0048 - for information relating to your specific circumstance. |

I am in ultrasound and it is different for the ARDMS. Yes, if I didn't have my Bachelor's, I would have to wait, but I am eligible- accredited or not.(believe me, I have contacted them frequently to make sure that the prerequisite that I fall under is the right one for me). Thank you though for responding. |

Then I would bet that not having taken the exam is holding you up. My most recent exposure to who gets hired and who doesn't is in FL (left there 8 months ago). The facilities in south Florida were only willing to hire those who had already passed the ARDMS or ARRT exam, OR those with tons of experience. For a short time at the end of the 90's, they were recruiting from the north, but by 2004, there hadn't been any job openings in my facility in sonography for some time (unless they were registered in vascular - that seemed to be a biggie).
US seems to me to be a tougher road. US is the most operator dependant of the imaging modalities.
Good luck
